Our Mission and Vision

Who We Are

California Advocates For Education is a multifaceted agency who supports families, specialized school personnel, and districts in education planning and collaboration.

We provide support at education planning meetings, authoring of and review of Individualized Education Plans and 504 plans, Functional Behavior Assessments and Behavior Intervention Plans. For districts, we can provide support to Administrators, Education Specialists and Paraprofessionals for devlopment opportunities. We also provide Parent and Caregiver Education and referrals to community services.

Our Impact Areas

School Districts

CAFE provides spcific post bacclauriate training to Special Education staff on how to use SEIS for IEP wriing and how to write legally defensible goals. We further provide professional development opportunties on data collection and positive behavior supports to optimize the classroom environment.

We support District Adminitrators by keeping them abreast on laws affecting Special Education, discipline of students with IEP/504 plans, Mainfestation meetings and supporting their Education Specialists to promote overall staff health and retention.

Families

We support families by reviewing Individualized Education and 504 plans to ensure their child is optimizing their learning potential. CAFE also supports families through the team meeting process to ensure the best outcomes for their children by providing advocacy services.

We advocate for students with mild to severe disabilities, ensuring they receive the support and resources needed to optimize their education and build independence.

CAFE understands the IEP/504 process is confusing and overwhelming. We provide individual and small group parent education to help clarify concerns and questions about the process and the school environment. We can also help you learn the strategies being implemented in your student's classroom so you maintain consistency across environments.

Education Specialists

CAFE mentors and provides professional development opportunites for Education Specialists and paraeducators, focusing on data collection, positive behavior supports, and behavior modification strategies to enhance the educational environment.

We assist with navigating the complexities of SEIS and placing information on the correct page in the education plans.

CAFE also provides support when the previous IEP is vague or it calls for an accommodation that is uncommon or unfamiliar.
